So, we're getting there at last! Just over two weeks before filming begins. On top of that, we've got a whole load of creatures ready for animation, and I've sorted out the colour grades and other things needed for us to begin. So the first episode should be online wthin a few months! FINALLY!

Blender!

Posted by Ben Jewer on Monday, April 18, 2011, In : Behind-the-scenes News
I've finally got around to learning how to use the amazing free 3d program, Blender. So now, all visual effects will be CGI, not stop motion! So much easier for me!

Latex-ing: the return

Posted by Ben Jewer on Monday, July 5, 2010, In : Behind-the-scenes News
W00t!
Latex-ing has finally worked! Really well!
I've now got 2 chunks of dino skin:

It's a fantastic cast, it holds the texture really well. Now I have to stick it onto Raptor's side...

Latex-ing

Posted by Ben Jewer on Sunday, July 4, 2010, In : Behind-the-scenes News
I've painted my skin and head casts with latex and they're now drying. Take a look:

The smallest one is the head. You can't see it clearly because of the angle and size etc. and it won't really matter if it looks a bit shoddy 'cos it's only gonna be on screen a few seconds and then it'll be moving too fast to see clearly. It's just the general shape that matters.

'Stunt' Raptor in development

Posted by Ben Jewer on Sunday, July 4, 2010, In : Behind-the-scenes News
Just a quick update, yesterday's scale drawing of a raptor is now being turned into the 'stunt' raptor that will be used for when raptors get eaten, thrown of blown up. For this reason it is fairly low quality and lacks mouth movement. Also it was made with pipe cleaners rather than aluminium wire.
Here's a pic:

It is shown with the sketch in the background and the inverted blu-tac (no expense spared) skin mold in the ofreground. Soon I will give it the latex treatment and hopefully tomorrow ...

Progress at last

Posted by Ben Jewer on Saturday, July 3, 2010, In : Behind-the-scenes News
Thanks to a 2 days off school this weekend I've been able to make some progress on the 'raptors', by finalizing the colour scheme, creating a 1:1 scale drawing of the model, and beginning to create the aluminium wire templates that the actual model's armature will be based around. Here's a pic:

Sorry 'bout the blur. I'll post a better photo when I can.
